GOLDEN GIRLS is coming back for season 2, according to a report from Deadline Hollywood.
It’s also confirmed that the series will not be returning for the fourth season.
The story has been told before, but Deadline reports that the new version will feature the same “darker” vibe that fans love.
Golden Girls stars Amy Sherman-Palladino, Julie Bowen, Christina Applegate, and Sofia Vergara will return to the show as the original cast.
However, the new season will feature new, different episodes, and will also have a number of “dark” and “supernatural” elements.
There are a lot of new faces in the cast, including former Golden Girls star Michelle Visage (Bridget Jones’ mother) as the former head of the show’s creative team, Julie Andrews, as the showrunner, and Amy Sherman Paltrow as the lead.
The showrunner is also joined by new showrunner Josh Schwartz, who was previously the head of original programming for Golden Girls.
The showrunner has also been tapped to write the new show’s final episode, which will be a bit of a departure from the show we know and love.
We also have confirmation that a “big twist” is in store, which could bring the show to its final moments.
The new Golden Girls season will premiere in 2019.
It will air on the CW.
